The University educates students in forty-seven basic fields of study, both full-time and part-time. For several years, the University of Opole has been an interdisciplinary university with a major in humanities. It includes 8 faculties, the Main Library, a Foreign Language Center and the Physical Education and Sport Center. The university also conducts classes in the evening mode, and you can continue your education at three levels (bachelor, master and doctorate). A total of 16,572 students study at the university, including 10,476 full-time, 4,315 extramural, 423 full-time, 380 doctoral students and 1,078 post-graduate students. The university has a huge scientific potential, thanks to a qualified staff of lecturers, but also many specialized laboratories, laboratories as well as IT and media centers. In addition to the high level of education, it is worth mentioning that Opole is one of the cheapest cities in Poland, and the student campus of the Opole University is located in a quiet part of the city – near the old town, theaters, cinemas, swimming pools and student clubs. Every year, the Opole University organizes “Piastonalia” – free from education, a few days’ carnival on the city streets combined with all-night fun. The Opole university is constantly expanding its educational offer, establishing cooperation with research centers in the country and abroad, as well as organizing international student exchanges. The educational offer includes humanities such as: Law, Administration, Journalism and social communication as well as Philosophy and History. All fields have one thing in common: interest in the field of study. Studies are largely based on practice, that’s why you have to be interested in culture, art, history, literature and film. People who find “such a chance” at such studies are simply bored. Biological faculties are also very popular among candidates, which are carried out at the University of Opole within the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology. Classical biology is combined here with other fields of science. In this way, interdisciplinary trends such as biotechnology and environmental engineering are created. By studying these directions, you will learn how to use biological processes on an industrial scale. This knowledge is used, among others by pharmaceutical companies. Recruitment at the University of Opole The variety of fields offered by the University of Opole determines the list of high school final subjects awarded during recruitment. To become a student at an Opole public university, you must pass a high school diploma in Polish and a foreign language. These two items will give you extra points in all directions, regardless of their specifics. The main recruitment subject determines the nature of the direction. Therefore, to get to mathematics majors you need to take: mathematics, physics or computer science, and to the faculties of nature: biology, chemistry, geography or physics. Humanities require history, social studies and sometimes also geography.   Work after studies at the University of Opole Each of the faculties operating within the University of Opole prepares students to work in almost every industry. As students and graduates of humanities, such as foreign philology, you can look for in translation agencies or international corporations – there is a demand on the labor market for people who speak less popular languages, such as Japanese, Chinese, Norwegian or Swedish. After Polish philology, you can find employment in publishing houses, in editorial offices of magazines, in the copywriting industry, in cultural institutions, in schools, in the media; after cultural studies or ethnology – in museums and cultural institutions or in the tourism industry; journalism gives you the chance to work in the broadly understood media: on the radio, magazines and newspapers, television, internet portals, but also in PR, copywriting and advertising agencies. The Faculty of Chemistry and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology are preparing to work in the food industry, in pharmaceutical concerns, in the cosmetics industry, in forestry, in the agricultural and veterinary sector and in institutions dealing with environmental protection. Graduates of biology and chemistry in the teaching specialization in the field of teaching, at first-cycle studies obtain the right to teach nature in elementary schools, and after completing second-cycle studies and didactic classes, also to teach in other types of schools. With skills such as: creating software that directs prindustrial processes, statistical data processing, preparation of implementation tests of new technologies and their statistical development, acquired at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science, you can look for work in the modern technologies sector: in IT, teleinformatics, telecommunications, robotics, in such positions as programmer, analyst data or network administrator.
